Got this e-mail from Nature's Logic today and I thought I would share the good information. I added a few more tips at the end also.
Let’s talk about taurine, an essential amino acid for our pets.
Dogs' bodies produce taurine but cats' bodies do not so they must get it from the animal proteins in their food.
Taurine is critical for healthy cardiac function, vision, immune system and much more.
Nature's Logic diets are always high in 100% natural taurine because our diets are high in quality animal protein.
Because cats must get taurine from their food, cat foods that don't have enough natural taurine must include synthetic taurine to ensure the food meets the recommended amounts.
When a pet food lists taurine on its ingredient panel, that is the synthetic form of it. Nature’s Logic ingredients never list taurine because it is an inherent part of the diet, 100% naturally obtained from the high levels of quality animal proteins found in our food.
How do you feel about providing an essential amino acid to your pet with a synthetic form of it?
Look at the ingredient panel on your pet's food and see if it shows taurine as a listed ingredient. That's a synthetic form of it.
Then, if you’d like to learn more about the benefits of 100% natural nutrition, simply reply to this email or contact Nature's Logic and they will give you additional information about nutrition for pets and Nature’s Logic.
Just want to add the taurine to your dog food yourself? These are some good things to add extra taurine to your pets diet.
- Dark poultry meat is higher in taurine than light meat. Organ meats are also a good source of taurine (chicken liver is one of the highest).
